I agree it does sound great, I just haven't found an application for it yet.

The midi files work pretty well with other drum software too like the Steven Slate stuff. Find a groove that feels good and then edit the midi kick and snare hits to fit the pattern of the song.

I think these are the best way to start programming your drum parts. They're not very expensive and they have great feeling live performances. Whether you go EZ or Superior, I would recommend picking up all the midi expansion packs you can. If you've never mixed multiple miced up drum kits then you may be in for a fair amount of head scratching. While this gives you amazing flexibility this also makes things more complex. As someone that actually tracks a fair amount of live drums it's very similar to working with live drum recording. While EZ is easier (no pun intended) to work with I feel that the extra that comes with Superior is well worth the additional coin. They're the best drum programming products out there IMO and I have most of them.ĮZ Drummer is great, but it's really Superior Lite.

Even without the endorsement I would have bought all their products for full retail and had no complaints. I'm a Toontrack endorsee however I bought half their products before they started hooking it up. Got this this email too so good deals are on I don't see how you can go wrong with Toontrack. If you get extreme, you could use a digital drum kit but have it playing the sounds in EZD, then you could record a real drummer playing awesome drum sounds and real human patterns, all without ever having anyone sleeping upstairs hear a darn thing. MOst realistic sound, also, although Jamstix sounds are awesome. Toontrack is by a long mile the easiest one for anybody who doesn't want to program their own patterns. I used to program a real drum machine, and I've tried a couple three other DAW based drum programs. But if you spend a few extra bucks, like $19 or $29 bucks a few times, you can get their midi collections and you will have more patterns than you'll ever know what to do with. I use it in Reaper, drag n drop, you can use the mouse to edit the midi later and make the patterns into anything you want. I had EZD, upgraded to Superior 2 (Superior replaced BFD I think) and it's the best. Best bet is go to the Toontrack forum and do a quick search, or post a question, my bet is you can do stand alone. I have the standalone but I've never used it. I think you can construct songs with it, then export that (as a midi track) to a file and import it to any DAW you want. Sorry, I'm not positive but I don't believe this is true.
